Description
US Indian Wars era Officers Sword presented to Captain R.N Conwell in 1904 by Company C.T.M.C . Maker marked S.N Meyer, Washington DC. It is complete with metal scabbard.
The blade is etched with the U.S. and Federal eagle. The ricasso is marked S.N. Meyer, Washington, D.C. The blade shows some pitting and a slight bend to the tip of the blade.
It has a gilt brass hilt, with semi-basket guard with oval panel starburst pattern underneath and the Great Seal of the United States on the inner hilt.The shagreen grip is intact with brass wire wrapped grip. The wire is nice and tight.
Nickel scabbard, the gilt brass mounts molded with foliage, with the presentation inscription.
I would rate this sword in good condition for age.
