Description

A very nice Victorian P1857 Royal Engineers Officers Sword, Maker marked Henry Wilkinson Pall Mall London etched on the ricasso,numbered 14255 which dates the sword made in 1866, very nice etching on both sides of blade, VR royal cypher and motto for the Royal Engineers on blade, the grip shows little wear, braided wire which is nice and tight. The brass scabbard shows a repair at some stage of its life and original to the sword. Overall very nice sword in very good condition for age, please refer to photos.

This is the same type of sword as worn by Lt Chard V.C at Rorke’s Drift 22/1/1879 in the Zulu War.
