Description
An original U.S. Model 1917 trench knife manufactured by Landers Frary & Clark (LF&C), featuring the distinctive triangular (tri-dagger) blade and desirable wooden grip panels — complete with its original period scabbard.
Designed for brutal close-quarters trench warfare during the First World War, the M1917 combines a reinforced brass knuckle guard with a rigid triangular spike blade, purpose-built for maximum penetration and battlefield durability.
This example retains its original wooden grips, one of which shows a minor crack. The crack appears stable and could likely be repaired if desired; however, it has been left as is, as it adds to the knife’s authenticity, character, and the strong possibility of genuine period service use.
Increasingly difficult to find in original configuration — particularly when accompanied by the correct scabbard — this is a solid and honest example of one of America’s most iconic trench fighting knives.
