Description
A rare and highly sought-after World War II-era Middle Eastern theatre fighting knife, commonly referred to by collectors as the “Death’s Head” knuckle knife.
These distinctive British Commando-style trench knives are believed to have been privately acquired or locally produced for Allied personnel operating in the North African and Middle Eastern theatres during WWII. Characterised by their cast knuckle guard and unmistakable skull (“Death’s Head”) pommel, these knives were purpose-built for brutal close-quarters combat in desert and urban environments.
This example features the classic knuckle-duster grip configuration paired with a blade, combining both striking and thrusting capability in a compact fighting knife form. Surviving examples are scarce — particularly those retaining their original period sheath, as offered here.
An exceptional and visually striking addition to any advanced WWII edged weapons or British Commando militaria collection.
