Description
Victorian British 1856 Pattern Mark I Brass Hilted Drummers Sword
Maker Marked Mole. Considered one of the best British Sword/Bayonet Makers
It must also be noted that although this sword was designated the 1856 Pattern, this particular design of sword had already been carried by drummers since the 1840’s
There are 2 types and these include the Brass Hilted swords for Drummers and Iron Hilted Swords for Buglers and Rifle regiments
Unlike Bandsmen, Drummers and Buglers were enlisted soldiers and could be ordered to fight alongside their fellow soldiers.
